How an invoice is verified, step by step
- Find the NIVF or the QR code. On a printed invoice, the 32-character NIVF and the QR code are usually near the bottom, next to the total.
- Paste it into the verification field. Type or paste the NIVF, or the address the QR code opens, into the field below. The format is checked immediately.
- Open the official verifier. Click the link that appears: it takes you to the official Tax Administration page, where you can see whether the invoice is recorded.
What are the NIVF and the NSLF?
Every fiscalized invoice carries two codes: the unique invoice identifier (NIVF), which identifies the invoice itself, and the issuer's security number (NSLF), the signature of whoever issued it. Both are created at the moment of fiscalization and registered with the central invoice platform, which is why verification shows at once whether an invoice is genuine. What is the NIVF on an invoice?
The NIVF (Numri Identifikues i Vlefshëm i Faturës, the unique invoice identifier) is the 32-character code every invoice receives the moment it is fiscalised; the technical documentation calls it the FIC. It is printed next to the QR code and proves the invoice was recorded in the central system of the Tax Administration.
Where do I find the NIVF on an invoice?
Usually near the bottom of the invoice, next to the QR code and the NSLF. It is labelled NIVF and is always 32 characters long: digits and the letters A to F.
How do I verify an invoice using the QR code?
Scan the QR code with your phone camera: the official verification page opens with the invoice details already filled in. If you have the address the code points to, you can paste that here instead and we will take you to the same place.
What does verifying an invoice show me?
If the invoice exists in the central system: the seller, the issue date and the amount. When those match the invoice in your hand, it was fiscalised properly.
What if the invoice is not found in the system?
First check that the NIVF was entered correctly. If it still cannot be found, the invoice may not have been fiscalised: ask the seller and, if you are still in doubt, report it to the Tax Administration.
